Established in 1978, Najaf Technical Institue is a non-profit public higher education institution located in the Al-Najaf, Republic of Iraq. Officially accredited and/or recognized by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research/Republic of Iraq and the Technical Education Authority which was founded in 1969. Al-Najaf technical institute includes thirteen technical departments in different disciplines (technology, administrative and applied arts) which are offer courses and programs leading to officially recognized diploma degrees. It has more than 100 academic staff members with master and doctorate qualifications and more 300 employees with bachelor degree and technical diploma.
The study in the Institute is characterized by the applied nature of 70% of the number of teaching hours per week where the student practice applied in the workshops and laboratories prepared scientific and technical development is developed. It also includes training in state departments and facilities for two months for the second stage to acquire the student skill and scientific competence in the actual reality of work. The graduates of the institute are appointed in the state departments with the degree of technical diploma according to the different specialties. There are wide areas for distinguished graduates of the institute to complete their university studies on the bachelor’s degree, where the top 10% of the graduates of the institute are allowed to the departments in various scientific disciplines to accept the Iraqi universities with the same specialization. And the need for these technical cadres with different competencies as long as there is continuous and remarkable progress in the level of services to the community

The center of the computer and electronic network, which contains advanced laboratories for computer and networks and telecommunications to teach and train students and the establishment of continuing education courses. It also contains a library and closed hall for sports, theater and restaurant for students and an internal section for students and another for students as well as classrooms, laboratories, workshops and residential neighborhood of the Institute The vocabulary of the scientific curriculum A broad calendar aimed at keeping abreast of recent developments in all sciences. The Institute has integrated poultry fields and poultry slaughter. The institute also contains agricultural lands as well as administrative and other services buildings
The Dean of Institute and the institute Council are in charge of the scientific , financial ,
and administrative affairs in accordance with the law of Ministry of Higher Education and
Scientific Research.
It is the supreme scientific and administrative authority which takes over the duties of
giving recommendations of the studies , ratifying the scientific research plan , opening
the scientific departments , it also takes over contracting with teaching staff ,technicians
and the instructors, holders of all kind of certificates , ratifying scientific and administrative
staff improvement and training plans and the field practices for instructors , distributing the
scientific and administrative staff of the department, executing the annual balance plan ,
ratifying the final statistics ,.

Academic Departments , the Institute council secretary and Teachers Association

Undergraduate
In accordance with Article 34 of the Iraqi constitution, education is free at all stages for every Iraqi individual. Thus the vast majority of MTU students are assigned by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research (MOHESR) from the output of the country’s secondary school system. Other cases concerning non-Iraqi students are summarized in the table below:
Other Conditions:
1-Applicants should possess the Iraqi secondary “high” school certificate or equivalent. Non-Iraqi certificates should follow the equivalence procedures suggested by the Ministry of Education.
2-Applicants must pass the medical examination.
3-Applicants should have graduated within the period of the four preceding years.
4-Full-time students are not allowed to combine a job with study.
5-In the case of a lack of fluency in the Arabic language, students should take a preparatory teaching year.
6-Admission period is from 1st of July to 15th of August every year. Registration should be completed fully by 15th of November, otherwise it will be canceled.
7-Study visa will be granted through sending notice to the Iraqi embassy upon approval of acceptance.
