Najaf Technical Institute is one of the important educational and training establishments in the region, it is founded in 1978 firstly with only three scientific departments and located about (5) Kms to the south of the city.
The institute aims to graduate technical staffs having diploma certificate in their respective fields after spending two calendar years following the second stage with all branches (scientific, literature and vocational).
The following academic and scientific departments are now included in the institute:
A. The engineering disciplines:
A.1. Civil department: Founded in 1978 and includes sections of (building and construction, roads constructions, building and engineering design).
A.2. Department of electricity (power): Founded in 1978.
A.3. Department of Mechanical technologies
(materials production branch): Founded in 1979.
A.4. Department of machineries and equipments
(refrigeration and air conditioning branch.) Founded in 1987.
A.5. in 2018 the Department of Communications Techniques( founded in 1986) and Department of Electronics Techniques (Founded in 1994) were merged into one department called the Electronic and Communications Technologies.
A.7.Department of Medical Devices Techniques Founded in 2018.
