The green education or the so-called Green University،

It is a modern education that seeks sustainable development, keeping pace with technological development and making use of it in all other elements of the educational process with high efficiency and distinguished outputs, according to environmentally friendly standards. 

Thus, it develops two aspects: the first aspect related to environmental programs, such as buildings, energy, afforestation and services, and this aspect is clearly and clearly found in many countries of the world, and it began to be applied several years ago. The second aspect is everything that focuses on the educational process with technologies, applications, strategies and practices related to the concept of green education, and many countries have begun to adopt it in their institutions and educational system

The benefits of this system include the adoption of technologies to rationalize energy consumption resulting from the use of computers, lighting, air conditioning, etc., as well as the use of educational technologies in an environmentally sound and economical way in effort and time, as well as a radical shift to electronic services in order to dispense with the use of paper and textbooks, reduce training centers by activating

The things that Al-Furat Al-Awsat University follows in order to adopt the initial foundations of green education are the following:

Attention to the green campus by expanding green spaces.
Encourage green education research and address issues related to clean energy and environmental conservation to address the risks of climate change.
Conducting awareness campaigns to educate on the care and multiplication of the green environment.
Develop an effective plan for the treatment of environmentally harmful waste to maintain public hygiene . Integrating green education programs and topics into the University’s academic subjects .
Activating the divisions and units of green university education within the organizational structure of universities .
Establishing research partnerships with universities, ministries concerned with electricity, Environment, Water Resources,
Agriculture, oil and private sector companies
Holding workshops and seminars to raise awareness of the risks of climate and environmental change through the implementation of the seventeen Sustainable Development Goals approved by the United Nations and committed by Iraq until 2030.
Financing projects that support the rapid transition to green education and a clean environment within the financial budgets allocated to the Ministry of higher education and scientific research.
As an example, the applications of technologies that adopt the green education system, the smart programming system (Smart Computing) to design smart programs and applications to benefit from them in the educational process, Education on iPads and similar tablets as an alternative to paper courses, thereby facilitating the application of a system in education in schools, which enables students to use their personal devices without the need for computer labs, as well as virtual labs to benefit from them in chemistry, physics, biology and other medical and industrial specialties, which is actually applied through the Bologna Process currently approved in the faculties of engineering and science in most Iraqi universities
