Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University Organizes Meeting for Librarians

The Industrial Advisory Council at Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University held its regular meeting, chaired by the University President, Prof. Dr. Hassan Latif Al-Zubaidi, with the attendance of representatives from both public and private sectors, as well as the university’s Vice Presidents and several deans of the university’s faculties. In his welcoming speech, the University President emphasized the importance of partnership between the university and the workforce in both government and private sectors, aiming to meet the needs of both sectors, as they are the primary beneficiaries of the university’s graduates across various specializations. He also expressed his gratitude to the attendees from the industry for their continued cooperation with the university.
Mr. Ali Abdul-Hussein Al-Dhalimi, Director of the Scientific Affairs Department, presented an overview of the current state of summer internships, highlighting the need to strengthen efforts to train students in both private and government sectors. He discussed the advantages and challenges of summer training in each sector.
Prof. Dr. Fadhil Mohammed Thaher, Dean of the Karbala Technical Institute, provided an update on the institute’s preparations for the university’s Third Job Fair and outlined the activities planned for the event. He invited private sector companies to participate in the fair to facilitate the employment of as many graduates as possible.
Ass. Prof. Dr. Amir Hussein Mohammed, Head of the University’s Rehabilitation and Employment Division, presented prospects for partnership between the university and the private sector in light of the ninth amendment to the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research Law. This amendment aims to enhance the role of technology incubators and permit partnerships between the university and private sector to establish technological and scientific incubators and joint-stock companies, thus promoting the utilization of scientific knowledge and research to support economic growth and reduce unemployment.
The second clause of the amendment states that university boards have the right to contract with the private sector under the Investment Law for constructing educational hospitals, scientific production facilities, agricultural and livestock projects, and sports centers to enhance educational processes, scientific research, and both undergraduate and graduate studies.
The meeting included discussions by various council members on the importance of training in developing students’ and graduates’ skills, as well as sharing ideas and initiatives to strengthen ties with the university to further the goals of higher education and equip graduates for successful entry into the job market.
