Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University Organizes Meeting for Librarians

The Scientific Affairs Department at the university headquarters held an extensive meeting for librarians from the university’s colleges and institutes. In his welcoming speech, Vice President for Scientific Affairs, Prof. Dr. Ahmed Ghanem Wadai, highlighted the importance of libraries and their role in providing students, faculty, and researchers with scientific resources for conducting research, writing studies, preparing scientific reports, and developing their technical and personal skills. He emphasized the need to focus on libraries and facilitate access for students and faculty members. Prof. Dr. Ahmed Ghanem Wadai, commended the efforts of the Scientific Affairs Department and the University’s Electronic Computer Center, which, in collaboration with the Al-Abbas Holy Shrine, resulted in the installation of the global “Koha” electronic library management system. He expressed the university’s readiness to provide all necessary resources to implement this program. The meeting included discussions on the main requirements and needs of the libraries in terms of buildings, equipment, and specialized staff for library management. Additionally, Prof. Dr. Ahmed Ghanem Wadai directed the provision of financial support for all libraries based on their needs and the preparation of maintenance reports for library buildings across several departments. The discussion covered all library affairs through the esteemed University Council. The meeting was attended by Prof. Dr. Khitam Abdul Hassan Shanann, Head of the Scientific Production Marketing Division in the Scientific Affairs Department, Lecturer Ashraf Manea Farhoud, Head of Library Affairs at the university, and librarians from various university departments.
