A scientific Symposium with the title of “on maternal services during pregnancy and childbirth” has been organized by Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University in corporation with Al-Najaf Health Directorate and in coordination of the voluntary team “Friend of People with Special Needs”.

The symposium focused on raising the awareness and looking after the health of mothers and children during pregnancy and birth giving. In addition, it has h the highlighted the importance and benefits healthcare provides to women during natural child birth, as well as the implications of cesarean section. The symposium also covered the proper health procedures to follow to perform civilized and safe childbirth.
The other aspects highlighted were the rights of the women during giving birth and encouraged them to be open and raise the barriers so they can freely communicate with the medical team looking after them.
The attendance of this Symposium was from various levels including lecturers, and students from the university and more precisely the organizer department. The outcomes emphasized the significance rule that the students have to spread this knowledge to the designated patient and mother considering students as educated individuals in the health sector. The importance of sharing knowledge of safe practices of birth relying on certified information sources.

The symposium has been organized by the department of nursing at Kufa technical institute and has been held at Al-Mutanabi main Hall. This has been conducted with the direct supervision of Prof. Dr. Atheer Kadhum Abadi the dean of Kufa technical institute and Dr. Riad Sad Atshan the director of nursing department.
