It is concerned with the administrative and scientific requirements of graduate studies, through which quality standards and academic accreditation can be applied to all colleges and scientific departments of the university. The policy of this department aims to achieve the aspirations and ambitions of the university by providing society with competent, constructive and sincere scientific energies from graduate students (higher diploma, master's and doctorate) in all majors and scientific fields, as well as ensuring the quality of the outcomes of technical higher education by qualifying the student's scientific, practical and research capabilities and providing the necessary services to graduate students, believing that they will be at the forefront of the scientific community in the future..

The Department of Graduate Studies includes a number of divisions that work to achieve its goals and enhance its academic and cultural role, as follows:
2- Division of Skills Development for Graduate Students
The work of this division includes managing the Graduate Students Skills Development Program, which is the program launched by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research to develop scientific research skills for graduate students in Iraqi universities. It includes a series of workshops presented by qualified professors with extensive experience in the field of scientific research and publishing. This program is the first in Iraq and has been approved at the University of Technology since 2020-2021 for students in research phase exclusively. By a decision of the Ministry's advisory Board, it was approved for graduate students in Iraqi universities starting from 2023-2024, and is now managed by the Research and Development Department to enable all university students with academic tools and skills. The Skills Development Program aims to develop student's skills in many areas:
• Expanding the research horizons of graduate students.
• Benefit from the expertise of professors in the field of scientific research, preparing and writing theses and dissertations, choosing appropriate journal for publication, the method of arranging sources, and presenting scientific results, etc.
• How to organize time and shorten the time period required to complete the research with high efficiency.
• Increase the skills of graduate students in finding appropriate solutions to research problems.
• Students receive free workshops on the most prominent scientific programs used globally in solving research problems.

3- Division of Admission and Registration
Undertaking the following tasks:
• Managing the electronic admission system for enrollment of students in graduate studies.
• Issuing admission letters for accepting graduate students.
• Developing the admission plan for graduate studies in coordination with the scientific departments in the colleges of the university.
• Accepting and following up on foreign students.
• Unifying, organizing and approving the admission plan for graduate studies every academic year, which is sent to the ministry for approval.
• Referring studies related to the creation of new studies to the college council.
• Conducting statistics on enrolled students and applicants for graduate studies.
• Working on the study leave system, granting no-objection letters, and issuing study leave letters for university staff.
• Following up on students from the university staff who have been granted study leave.

4- Division of Students Follow-Up.
Undertaking the following tasks:
• Follow-up on requests and topics (study extension, study postponement, study transfer, and students whose study has been cancelled).
• Follow-up on the progress of application and enrollment process for graduate studies.
• Issuing letters for extending graduate students' study approved by the University Council.
• Issuing letters for admission cancellation and study cancellation of graduate students, which are approved by the University Council.
• Issuing IDs for graduate students.
• Documenting graduate student files.
• Facilitating tasks for graduate students and research missions' program.
• Referring all ministerial instructions related to graduate studies to the scientific departments at the university.

5- Division of Alumni Affairs.
Undertaking the following tasks:
• Issuing letters for graduates who have been granted a doctorate, master's degree and higher diploma from the university.
• Responding to the official authorities, universities and departments regarding the validity of issuing university certificates for graduates.
• Preparing statistics for graduates according to colleges, departments and majors and providing them to the Statistics Department.
• Creating an electronic database for graduate students to be updated periodically.
• Responding to the Ministry letters regarding the topics of theses and dissertations.
