About the Department

This department was established with the founding of the university under the name “Department of Planning and Statistics,” and it was part of the Administrative Assistant’s Office. Later, the name was changed to the “Department of Studies, Planning, and Follow-up” and it became affiliated with the Scientific Assistant’s Office.

Duties of the Planning Division

- Monitoring and supervising the preparation of curricula, course descriptions, and the development or modification of curricula for (engineering, health and medical, administrative, and agricultural) disciplines in the technical colleges and institutes.
- Overseeing the e-learning system and monitoring e-learning platforms across the university’s formations.
- Following up on the establishment of academic departments and branches in the university’s colleges and institutes, in coordination with the Department of Studies, Planning, and Follow-up at the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.
- Responding to the decisions of college and institute council meetings related to the duties of the Department of Studies and Planning.
- Following up on the implementation of the academic calendar for technical colleges and institutes.
- Supervising the follow-up of academic release for lecturers inside and outside the university and issuing corresponding administrative orders, as well as following up on the fulfillment of teaching and technical staff workloads.
- Monitoring summer training affairs for students in technical colleges and institutes and preparing annual summer training reports.
- Following up on the work of all Deans’ Committees for various disciplines and coordinating between them and the university’s formations.
- Preparing memoranda of understanding and scientific and cultural cooperation agreements signed by the university with public and private universities and other Iraqi institutions, and monitoring their implementation.
- Following up on the affairs of university staff enrolled in morning or evening undergraduate studies (issuing study clearance letters, academic leave orders, and tracking academic progress).
- Supervising and monitoring the assignment of faculty members to prepare and author curricular and supplementary books, as well as book projects.
- Coordinating with the Chemical, Biological, and Hazardous Materials Control Division regarding the monitoring of chemical and biological materials and following up on storage procedures in the university’s colleges and institutes.

Duties of the Statistics Division

- Preparing the university-wide statistical report and providing the Ministry with an annual detailed report according to designated tables.
- Working on the statistical system for higher education staff (faculty and employees), including permanent and contract staff, within the electronic portal of the Department of Studies, Planning, and Follow-up / Statistics and Informatics Division.
- Working with the statistical system for higher education student information for undergraduate studies through the electronic portal of the Department of Studies, Planning, and Follow-up / Statistics and Informatics Division.
- Preparing the admission plan for morning and evening undergraduate studies.
- Preparing the university’s unified annual statistical report, which includes accurate statistics on university staff, students, buildings, centers, libraries, workshops, and laboratories.

Duties of the Data and Informatics Division

- Creating a database for conferences, seminars, and workshops and entering them into the “Nadoty” system, while monitoring approval steps.
- Creating a database for university buildings, laboratories, and libraries.
- Creating a database for faculty members and technicians across university formations.
- Providing the Ministry of Higher Education, government agencies, and other university departments with various data and statistical information regarding students and staff, in addition to data related to the university’s scientific and cultural activities.
