It is concerned with implementing the National Strategy for Iraqi Women through the five axes prepared by the National Iraqi Women’s Department at the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers, based on the executive plan prepared by the Women’s Affairs Department at the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.
The Women’s Affairs Division seeks to empower women and support them to become leaders in academic and community fields within the university, enhance their participation in decision-making, contribute to sustainable development, ensure protection from discrimination and violence, strengthen their role in environmental protection, support national issues, and achieve a balance between their rights and duties.
To promote a university environment that supports women in various fields, builds their capacities, and enables them to contribute effectively to creating a balanced and sustainable society.

Axis One: Political Participation and Empowerment:


- Support and enhance women’s participation in political work.
- Promote women’s involvement in academic and administrative decision-making within the university.
- Support women in reaching leadership positions through training and qualification programs.
- Coordinate with national entities concerned with women’s issues to implement policies supporting their societal role.
- Work on increasing the number of women in senior administrative positions and special job grades.

Axis Two: Economic Empowerment:


- Provide training and professional development opportunities for women within the university.
- Encourage research projects and economic initiatives led by women.
- Coordinate with local civil society organizations to support women-led or owned economic projects.
- Organize seminars and workshops to train women on skills needed for entering the labor market.
- Prepare programs, seminars, and workshops for digital economic empowerment of women and train them on platform management, e-marketing, and cybersecurity.
- Provide incentives for female university students, especially those from limited-income families.
- Coordinate with businesspeople to create private sector job opportunities supporting female students and graduates.

Axis Three: Protection from Violence:


- Establish effective mechanisms to protect women from violence and other negative phenomena.
- Activate the complaints fund and ensure serious attention to submitted complaints while maintaining confidentiality.
- Develop training programs to build women’s capacity to face violence and cyber extortion.
- Cooperate with relevant entities to provide legal and psychological support to women when needed.

Axis Four: Social Empowerment:


- Coordinate with relevant departments to facilitate women’s admission to graduate programs, scholarships, and study fellowships.
- Organize scientific competitions to encourage female researchers’ creativity.
- Support early medical checkup campaigns related to women’s health.
- Raise awareness of women workers’ rights through workshops, seminars, conferences, and lectures on labor law and social security tailored to women’s nature and social role.
- Support professional development and training for women.
- Support social activities that enhance women’s role in academic and general society.
- Provide psychological and social support for women to overcome challenges.

Axis Five: Enhancing Women’s Role in Climate Risk Management and Environmental Protection:


- Enable women to contribute to environmental initiatives within and outside the university.
- Support research and projects on climate change that enhance women’s role in achieving sustainable development goals.
- Organize awareness campaigns and programs on the importance of environmental preservation and the role of women in this regard.

2- The department includes all Women’s Affairs units in the university formations.
The department works in coordination with the Women’s Affairs Department at the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, the National Iraqi Women’s Department at the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers, and local civil society organizations to ensure implementation of national policies supporting women and achieving integration between university and national goals.
