Legal Affairs Department
The Legal Affairs Department is considered one of the most vital departments at the Presidency of Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University due to the nature of the tasks assigned to it. Administratively, the department is directly linked to the Office of the Assistant President of the University for Administrative Affairs.
The Legal Affairs Department at Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University aims to achieve its vision and mission through the following objectives:
1. Representing the university legally before official and semi-official bodies and the competent courts.
2. Promoting legal awareness among university staff and students by organizing seminars, courses, and legal workshops.
3. Providing legal advice on matters related to legal, administrative, financial, and academic promotion issues in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
4. Reviewing and resolving all investigative committees (preliminary and appellate) related to the university and its employees' rights.
5. Organizing all matters related to the guarantees and undertakings of university employees (academic and administrative) and students in both undergraduate and postgraduate studies.
6. Following up on procedures and coordinating with evaluation and state property rental and sale committees.
7. Providing the university with recommendations and operational proposals to support its legal framework.
8. Establishing legal relations between the university and state institutions through participation in conferences, seminars, and training courses.
9. Adopting a preventive approach to resolving disputes through negotiation and consensus, avoiding litigation whenever possible.

The Legal Affairs Department at the University Presidency has accomplished numerous achievements recently, as follows:
1. Followed up on violations against university lands and notified violators, granting them a reasonable period to remove such violations.
2. Filed civil and criminal lawsuits against individuals encroaching on university property.
3. Proceeded with the registration of unregistered and reclaimed lands dating from 1981 to 1984.
4. Completed the process of updating land ownership deeds in favor of the university.
5. Monitored and addressed cases of forgery and manipulation of land records by filing appropriate criminal complaints.
6. Transferred land ownership from the dissolved Technical Education Authority to the university.
7. Followed up on housing committee reports received from university branches and presented them to the central housing committee according to applicable laws and regulations.
8. Formed multiple central investigative committees at the university presidency, including the compensation committee, disciplinary committees for violations of the Civil Service Discipline Law, the Central Grievance Committee, and committees related to integrity and anti-corruption strategy implementation, as well as write-off and disposal committees.
9. Represented the university in lawsuits filed by or against it before all types of courts (criminal, civil, administrative), most of which were resolved in the university’s favor.
10. Organized awareness seminars and workshops on combating administrative and financial corruption and implementing the National Integrity and Anti-Corruption Strategy.
