Attending the research discussion sessions of accepted papers, the President of Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University, Professor Dr. Hassan Latif Al-Zubaidi, participated in the First International Scientific Conference on Engineering Sciences for Sustainable Development (ESNSD2026), held in partnership with Erbil Technical University.
The conference papers presented by researchers addressed the latest technological advancements in engineering, medical, and humanities fields, particularly those related to sustainable development.
During his attendance at the discussion sessions, Al-Zubaidi commended the efforts of Iraqi researchers and their role in development through the adoption of applied scientific research that contributes to finding practical solutions to real challenges across various sectors, thereby supporting the achievement of sustainable development goals. He also emphasized that no progress in any field of life can be achieved without scientific research.
The sessions also witnessed purely scientific interventions and discussions by the University President, as well as participating researchers from various international and local universities.
It is worth noting that the conference included participation from Al-Qadisiyah Polytechnic College, Najaf Engineering Technical College, and Al-Rumaitha Technical Institute, in cooperation with Shaqlawa Technical College, in addition to international and Arab participation from seven countries: Tunisia, the United Arab Emirates, Jordan, Iran, Sweden, the United Kingdom, and Vietnam, alongside eleven prominent Iraqi universities, including the University of Baghdad, Erbil Technical University, Al-Mustansiriya University, University of Basra, University of Al-Qadisiyah, University of Dhi Qar, University of Mosul, Tikrit University, University of Technology (Iraq), Middle Technical University, and Al-Kut University College, in addition to Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University.
The opening ceremony was attended by the President of Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University, Professor Dr. Hassan Latif Al-Zubaidi, the President of Erbil Technical University, Professor Dr. Idris Muhammad Taher Herki, a representative of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in the Kurdistan Region, as well as a number of academics and researchers from universities in both the federal center and the region, in addition to virtual participation via live broadcast by researchers and staff members from various university formations.
