The Science and Technology Parks Department is one of the supporting formations for the strategic policies of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. It focuses on enhancing innovation and applied scientific research, linking the outputs of Iraqi universities with the needs of society and both public and private sectors.

The department works to incubate promising technological and research ideas, transforming them into practical applications and entrepreneurial projects that contribute to supporting the national economy, developing human resources, and achieving sustainable development goals.

Scientific Outputs Marketing Division

Specialized in marketing scientific outputs, patents, and innovations

Main Responsibilities:
  • Documenting scientific outputs and preparing monthly reports of distinguished qualitative outputs and sending them to the Ministry
  • Working with the Ministry and the work field to promote scientific outputs of university staff and students for marketing purposes
  • Preparing monthly reports on patents for university staff and formations and facilitating inventors’ access to patents
  • Supervising the work of consulting offices in the university presidency and formations and monitoring their performance according to law and instructions
  • Circulating letters from various ministry departments related to community service activities and volunteer activities
  • Coordinating with formations to solve problems of various state ministries that come from the Ministry through consulting offices

Technology Incubators and Ecosystem Division

Specialized in incubating innovative ideas and supporting emerging projects

Main Responsibilities:
  • Providing a positive environment for incubating creative ideas and pioneering businesses and nurturing incubated ideas
  • Protecting idea owners by educating them about intellectual property protection methods and patents
  • Preparing entrepreneurial idea owners for various administrative tasks necessary for success in managing and marketing their projects
  • Providing the basic infrastructure necessary to start entrepreneurial projects
  • Assisting in securing initial funding necessary to launch entrepreneurial projects
  • Assisting in securing funding necessary to expand entrepreneurial projects through connections with interested investors
  • Following up on projects after they leave the incubator and providing necessary advice to ensure their continued success

Qualification, Employment, and Follow-up Division

Specialized in qualifying students and graduates, employing them, and monitoring their career path

Main Responsibilities:
  • Organizing in-person and electronic courses and workshops to train students and graduates in specialized and soft skills
  • Effective communication with labor market institutions to provide on-the-job training (curricular and summer)
  • Organizing qualification courses in partnership with the work field to provide job opportunities for graduates and employ them
  • Coordinating with government, investment, and private sector institutions for field visits to factories and companies
  • Coordinating with the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs/vocational training centers to train students and graduates
  • Organizing job fairs and providing suitable job opportunities for graduates
  • Following up with graduates and effective communication with them through questionnaires and social media
  • Holding in-person and electronic seminars for students and graduates to raise awareness about the importance of working in the private sector

Entrepreneurship Division

Specialized in enhancing entrepreneurship culture and supporting entrepreneurial projects

Main Responsibilities:
  • Attracting youth with initiative ideas and forming an official umbrella for youth initiatives
  • Empowering initiative owners, studying the idea presented by the initiator, and helping them develop it
  • Focusing on knowledge economy by concentrating on new fields in education and training
  • Establishing local and international partnerships with prestigious scientific and technical institutions and centers
  • Building trust between the university, community, and external institutions regarding the university’s programs based on knowledge economy
  • Working to connect new projects with the market
  • Achieving a set of social goals, including contributing to solving the unemployment problem
  • Continuously evaluating the work of incubated projects to identify their weaknesses and try to avoid them
