Under the patronage of the President of Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University, Professor Dr. Hassan Latif Al-Zubaidi, the Central Library – Continuing Education Division, in cooperation with the Human Rights Division in the University Presidency, held a cultural awareness seminar entitled (The laws in force in Iraq regarding depravity and homosexuality and how to plant Western decadence to occupy the human conscience).
The symposium was presented by Assist. Lect. Wassan Thabet Rashid and was attended by Assist. Prof. Dr. Sahera Ayed Abdul Sahib, Director of the Central Library Department in the University Presidency, and a number of students from the Technical Administrative College – Department of Information Technology and a number of members of the University Presidency.
The workshop dealt with the study of Iraqi laws related to moral depravity and unconventional practices, with a focus on the laws and legislation that limit the spread of such phenomena.
The workshop discussed the impact of modern Western values and attempts to impose certain agendas on Iraqi society with the aim of changing cultural and moral values and constants.
The symposium included main topics, the most important of which were:
Iraqi laws regulating public morality and homosexuality, external influences and attempts to impose Western agendas.
In addition to discussing the effects of the spread of moral deviation on society, and the available means to protect cultural identity and societal values, through coordination with official bodies and national organizations to enhance moral and social protection.
The workshop stressed the need for concerted efforts between the state and society to protect Iraq from any attempts to impose cultural agendas that conflict with societal values. Participants also emphasized the importance of developing effective strategies to confront these challenges and preserve societal traditions and morals.
