In alignment with the strategic direction of Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University to strengthen its presence in international scientific forums and to enhance its academic partnerships in support of higher education and scientific research in Iraq, the University President, Professor Dr. Hassan Latif Al-Zubaidi, along with his accompanying delegation, participated in the activities of the Second International Scientific Conference of the College of Administrative Sciences at Al-Mustaqbal University.

The conference, held under the patronage of the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and supervised by the University President, Professor Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, witnessed remarkable attendance by a distinguished group of vice presidents, college deans, researchers, and academics from various Iraqi universities, in addition to international participants from Turkey and Egypt.

It is noteworthy that the number of research papers presented at the conference reached 257, reflecting its advanced academic standing and its importance in addressing economic and administrative issues related to sustainable development.

The opening session commenced with a speech by the University President, delivered on his behalf by the Director of Scientific and Academic Supervision, Professor Dr. Muzaffar Sadiq Al-Zuhairi, who emphasized that the convening of the conference comes amid accelerating economic challenges that require intensified scientific efforts to develop sustainable, practical solutions to address poverty, mitigate its repercussions, and promote development pathways in Iraq.

In turn, the Head of the Preparatory Committee and Dean of the College of Administrative Sciences, Professor Dr. Haider Al-Dulaimi, stated in his address that the conference, held under the theme “Poverty and Sustainable Development in Iraq: Cost of Impact and Response Policy,” represents a solid scientific platform for the exchange of expertise and the production of applied knowledge in the fields of economics, accounting, and financial and banking sciences. He further noted that the scale of research participation reflects the growing confidence in the conference and its academic outcomes.

He added that the conference’s concurrence with the Fourth International Sustainability Week at Al-Mustaqbal University embodies the university’s commitment to its strategic vision of transforming into a sustainable institution that actively contributes to achieving sustainable development goals and serving the community.

The opening session also featured a panel discussion with the participation of Professor Dr. Hassan Latif Al-Zubaidi and Professor Dr. Wafaa Al-Mahdawi, Advisor at the Ministry of Planning. During the session, Al-Zubaidi addressed key economic challenges and ways to tackle them through modern scientific and applied approaches, reflecting the university’s advanced academic role and its contribution to supporting national development-oriented issues.

The delegation of Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University included the Dean of the Higher Institute for Nanotechnology for Postgraduate Studies, Professor Dr. Bashar Jabbar Hamza; the Dean of Babylon Technical Institute, Professor Dr. Ali Najah Kadhim; and the Dean of the College of Medical Rehabilitation and Prosthetics Technologies, Professor Dr. Fares Mohammed Al-Jaifari.

The scientific sessions subsequently commenced, distributed across three main tracks:

  • Economic محور (Economic Track)

  • Administrative محور (Administrative Track)

  • Financial and Accounting محور (Financial and Accounting Track)

These sessions featured in-depth scientific discussions and dialogues that contributed to enhancing research and fostering the exchange of expertise among participants.

The conference concluded with the formulation of a final statement and recommendations focused on supporting academic and research development and providing scientific insights to assist decision-makers and promote sustainable development in Iraq.
