Achieving a distinguished literary accomplishment, Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University secured first place in the Ministerial University Festival for Classical Arabic Poetry and Event Hosting, in a renewed affirmation of its excellence in student activities and its commitment to fostering creativity and refining literary talents.
This achievement was held under the patronage of Hassan Latif Al-Zubaidi, as part of the festival activities organized according to the Student Activities Department at the Scientific Supervision and Evaluation Authority for the year 2026. The event took place at Al-National University of Science and Technology Iraq and Al-Ain Iraqi University in the province of Dhi Qar Governorate, during the period from April 19 to April 23, 2026, with wide participation from public and private universities.
The competition witnessed remarkable engagement, with more than 42 universities and colleges participating. The entries were evaluated by a specialized ministerial judging committee that applied precise criteria to ensure the highest standards of integrity and professionalism.

The university was represented in this distinguished literary event by a select group of students, including student Zain Al-Abidin Majid Fadhel from the Technical Institute/Samawa, Department of Oil and Gas Refining, as well as student Mustafa Mohammed Abdul Redha from the Technical Engineering College/Najaf, who delivered outstanding performances that contributed to this achievement.
In a statement on the occasion, Assistant Professor Dr. Naseer Ahmed Kamel, Director of the Student Activities Department, affirmed that this victory represents a true outcome of the continuous support provided by the University President and his commitment to empowering students across various fields, in addition to the supervision and follow-up of Mohammed Al-Mujtami. He expressed his deep gratitude to both of them.
He further noted that “what has been achieved today is the result of collective work, structured planning, and a deep belief in the capabilities of our creative students, who have proven their presence and excellence across Iraqi universities.” He added that the university continues to strengthen its qualitative participation in cultural and literary forums, contributing to shaping the student’s personality and developing creative skills alongside academic excellence.
This achievement reflects the leading position of the university in supporting student activities across various domains, as well as its active and influential presence in ministerial academic forums, reinforcing its path toward further successive successes and confirming its pivotal role in preparing a creative and distinguished student generation.
