Al-Mussaib Technical College at Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University Discusses a Master’s Thesis on the Structural Performance Evaluation of Expressway Bridges
Al-Mussaib Technical College at Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University discussed a master’s thesis entitled “Structural Performance Evaluation of Expressway Bridges Based on Experimental and Numerical Analysis” submitted by researcher Ali Shaheed Radi from the Department of Building and Construction Engineering Technologies.
The study aimed to evaluate the structural performance of three prestressed concrete bridges within the Hilla–Kish Expressway Project through field inspections, non-destructive testing, load testing, and numerical modeling to verify the efficiency and serviceability of the bridges during operation.
The results demonstrated that the bridges possess a satisfactory level of structural safety and high concrete quality. A strong agreement was observed between the experimental findings and the numerical models. The study recommended adopting an integrated assessment approach and implementing periodic monitoring programs to maintain bridge efficiency and extend their service life.
