Al-Musayyib Technical College at Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University discussed a master’s thesis entitled “Flexural Behavior of Steel Fiber-Reinforced Geopolymer Concrete Beams Subjected to Elevated Temperatures” by researcher Aseel Majid Alwan from the Department of Building and Construction Engineering Technologies.
The study aimed to evaluate and develop steel fiber-reinforced geopolymer concrete beams as sustainable structural elements with high efficiency in resisting the effects of fire and severe thermal conditions.
The results demonstrated the possibility of producing beams with high flexural capacity and promising residual structural performance after exposure to elevated temperatures. The study recommended conducting further research on the effects of long-term environmental exposure, chloride and sulfate attacks, and wetting–drying cycles to assess the performance of these beams under various service conditions.
