Under the patronage of Professor Dr. Hassan Latif Al-Zubaidi, President of Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University, and the supervision of Professor Dr. Fadel Mohammed Dhahir, Dean of Karbala Polytechnic College, a delegation of the University’s students participated in the Unified Iraqi Universities’ Student Mourning Procession, organized by the General Secretariat of the Holy Imam Hussein Shrine in the holy city of Karbala on Saturday and Sunday, July 4–5, 2026, with broad participation from students representing universities across Iraq.
This participation reflects Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University’s commitment to fostering religious, national, and humanitarian values among its students, while encouraging their active engagement in events that embody the enduring principles of the Husseini Revolution and reinforce the values of sacrifice, altruism, national identity, and belonging.
The procession was marked by a deeply spiritual atmosphere that reflected the participants’ profound devotion to the principles of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) and his timeless reformist legacy. Students stood together in a powerful display of unity, solidarity, and brotherhood, reaffirming their commitment to the noble values established by the Battle of Karbala (Al-Taff) and drawing inspiration from its enduring lessons of truth, justice, and human dignity. Such participation contributes to strengthening national identity and raising social awareness among younger generations.
It is worth noting that this blessed participation was organized by the Student Activities Department at the University Presidency in coordination with the Deanship of Karbala Polytechnic College. The initiative reflects the University’s firm belief in the importance of instilling religious and national values in the hearts and minds of its students, translating its educational and humanitarian mission into practice by preparing a generation that combines academic excellence with strong ethical commitment. These activities also promote responsibility, a sense of belonging, volunteerism, and social cohesion, highlighting the University’s leading role in developing well-rounded students and serving the community.
