Al-Zubaidi Chairs an Expanded Meeting of Legal Affairs Departments and Directs: “No Immunity Except by Law”
Professor Dr. Hassan Latif Al-Zubaidi, President of Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University, chaired an expanded meeting of the Legal Affairs Department, attended by the heads of legal units across all university formations.
Held at the University Presidency in the presence of Dr. Rasim Ayed Hassan Al-Daami, Director of the Legal Affairs Department, the meeting focused on reviewing the progress of legal work and standardizing its procedures across all university formations located in Najaf, Babylon, Karbala, Al-Samawah, and Al-Diwaniyah.
During the meeting, the University President emphasized that the forthcoming phase requires comprehensive legal safeguards for all aspects of university operations, stressing that the Legal Affairs Department serves as the supporting authority and guarantor of the soundness and legality of procedures.
Al-Zubaidi stated: “We need a clear and explicit legal opinion before making any decision. Your responsibility is to provide sound legal advice that ensures the work is conducted in accordance with the applicable laws and regulations, while safeguarding the rights of the University, its employees, and its students alike.”
For his part, Dr. Rasim Ayed Hassan Al-Daami presented a detailed overview of the key legal matters currently under consideration and the procedures adopted in handling them. He also reviewed the challenges facing the legal units and proposed mechanisms for addressing them in ways that would enhance performance and further develop working procedures.
The meeting also featured an extensive discussion of a number of proposals and observations submitted by the heads of the legal units, with emphasis placed on the need to comply with the applicable instructions and regulations. This, in turn, would enhance the quality of legal work and contribute to the optimal completion of the tasks assigned.
The meeting was held as part of the University Presidency’s strategy to consolidate the rule of law within the academic institution and to transform legal work from a reactive function into a proactive one aimed at safeguarding the University before problems arise.
