The President of Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University, Professor Hassan Latif Al-Zubaidi, welcomed a delegation from the European Union’s “Izdiharak” project, headed by Dr. Victor. The delegation was attended by the Assistant President for Academic Affairs, Professor Ahmed Ghanem Waddai, the Director of the Quality Assurance and University Performance Department, Assistant Professor Dr. Ali Najah Kazim, and the Director of the Studies and Planning Department, Professor Dr. Fares Al-Jaafari, and a number of relevant faculty members.

During the visit, the implementation of the Bologna Process and key aspects of quality assurance in higher education were discussed. The discussions focused on the European principles, standards, and guidelines for quality assurance. The delegation noted that the Bologna Process is one of the most prominent quality standards that constitutes the cornerstone of higher education development and contributes to facilitating the accreditation of university disciplines in higher education sector. The quality assurance frameworks at technical universities were also reviewed, with a focus on accreditation processes and compliance with European and international standards. The importance of implementing the National Technical and Vocational Qualifications Framework and the Accreditation Guide was highlighted to enhance the quality of education at technical universities.

The discussions aimed to assess the current challenges facing Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University in implementing these standards and to set strategic goals for enhancing the quality of academic education, thus contributing to meeting international accreditation requirements and raising the level of academic performance. The delegation also reviewed the university’s measures regarding the implementation of the Bologna Process and the efforts made in this regard. The visit concluded with an exchange of views and experiences among the attendees, reflecting Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University’s commitment to achieving the highest levels of quality in higher education.
