In consolidation of its scientific standing in international forums, a high-level delegation from Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University, headed by the Assistant President of the University and comprising a distinguished group of specialized faculty members, participated in the Tokyo International Nanotechnology Exhibition (nano tech 2026). The exhibition is one of the world’s largest scientific and industrial gatherings and was held in the Japanese capital, Tokyo, from January 28 to 30.
One of the key highlights of the visit was gaining insight into global innovations, during which the delegation conducted extensive exploratory tours that included pavilions of leading international universities and prominent technology companies. The delegation also reviewed the latest scientific advancements in the applications of nanomaterials in the fields of energy, environment, and medicine.
Members of the delegation attended a series of seminars and technical lectures delivered by international researchers, focusing on the future of nanomanufacturing and the integration of artificial intelligence with nanotechnologies.
The visit also witnessed side meetings with representatives of international research institutions to discuss avenues for exchanging expertise and the potential transfer of modern technologies to enhance and develop research laboratories at Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University, particularly the Higher Institute of Nanotechnology, which was newly established this year.
For his part, the Assistant President of the University affirmed that this participation comes in line with the directives of the University President, Professor Dr. Hassan Latif Al-Zubaidi, and serves the University’s strategic vision of openness to successful global experiences. He noted that “the objective is not merely exposure, but rather the localization of this knowledge and its utilization in applied research projects that serve the technical sector in Iraq, thereby contributing to improving the University’s global ranking.”
It is worth noting that the Tokyo International Nanotechnology Exhibition is regarded as the world’s most significant platform for shaping the roadmap of advanced materials, with thousands of exhibitors and innovators from various countries participating this year.
