The Board of Directors of Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University held its fourth session for the academic year 2025–2026, chaired by the President of the University, Professor Dr. Hassan Latif Al-Zubaidi, and attended by the esteemed members of the Board. The meeting was also attended by the Directors of the Department of Studies and Planning and the Center for Continuing Education at the University Presidency.
The University Board members were received by the Dean of the Institute, Assistant Professor Dr. Sabah Mohammed Al-Mutawki, along with the senior administrative and academic staff of the institute.
At the outset of the session, the President of the University reviewed the most important directives issued by the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research during the most recent meeting of the Opinion Authority, emphasizing the following points:
The necessity of completing the registration of students who are graduates of preparatory schools and others who applied through the Central Admission Form, in accordance with the specified timelines.
Reopening applications for evening studies for the academic year 2025/2026 at a rate of (100%) of the approved admission plan for graduates of the third round of preparatory education, and completing the available seats for graduates of the first and second rounds.
The adoption of the updated guide for Teaching Methods Courses, moving toward blended learning in accordance with the revised curriculum, with a reduction in course duration to six intensive weeks.
The importance of strengthening international quality standards while maintaining high indicators of scientific research, in order to advance the university’s position within international databases and global rankings, as well as providing various forms of support for researchers and faculty members and encouraging high-quality publication in reputable international indexed journals.
Enhancing institutional integration among universities and the private sector by organizing relationships with work environments, thereby ensuring alignment between educational outcomes and development requirements.
In addition, the President of the University directed the following:
Continuous monitoring of first-semester examinations and ensuring all necessary preparations to provide a comfortable environment for students and to achieve the objectives of examinations in assessing students’ knowledge and acquired skills.
Promoting qualitative initiatives that contribute to enhancing the university’s academic reputation.
Ongoing monitoring and evaluation of scientific research activities within the university, identifying obstacles, and encouraging faculty members to increase publication in reputable international databases with high impact factors.
Ensuring the readiness of lecture halls, workshops, laboratories, and training requirements to secure high-quality, rigorous technical education, while preserving the identity of technical education in technical universities.
Maintaining continuous and dynamic university activity through the distribution of academic and extracurricular events, including morning and evening lectures, student activities, capacity-building courses, consultancy services, workshops, and other related events.
Monitoring graduation ceremonies held within university premises and adhering to relevant ministerial regulations in a manner consistent with ethical standards and public decorum expected of university students.
Conducting field follow-ups on services provided to students in university dormitories, identifying their needs, and working to meet them within the available resources.
At the conclusion of the session, the attendees reviewed the items listed on the agenda, discussed a number of academic, administrative, and student-related issues, and issued the appropriate recommendations and decisions accordingly.
