The Board of Directors of Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University held its second session for the 2025–2026 academic year, chaired by Professor Dr. Hassan Lateef Al-Zubaidi, President of the University, with the attendance of council members and heads of relevant departments at the university presidency.

At the beginning of the session, the University President reviewed the key directives issued by His Excellency the Minister during the recent meeting of the Ministry’s Advisory Board, emphasizing the following points:-

Increasing the percentage of high-quality publications in reputable international databases, while continuing efforts to include Iraqi university journals in these databases to strengthen the global standing of Iraqi universities.

  • Ensuring accuracy in using the official university email address for students when registering for the Higher Education Reading Award.

Granting a 25% tuition reduction for children of faculty members and employees of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research—both in public and private universities—for students enrolled in parallel, evening, or private education programs.

Adhering to the official academic calendar for all levels beyond the first year, with the start of the academic year set for September 21, 2025.

In addition, the University President directed the deans to:

Mobilize efforts to register newly admitted students for the current academic year in both morning and evening studies, including conducting field visits to follow up on the performance of the reception and registration committees.

Ensure completion of registration in the SIS program through the HEPIQ platform as part of the national digital transformation initiative in higher education—aimed at unifying university systems electronically and promoting efficiency and transparency.

Monitor reconstruction and infrastructure projects to ensure adherence to specifications and quality standards.

Supervise lectures and their regularity, particularly for first-year students, and ensure that classrooms and laboratories are properly prepared to facilitate a smooth academic process.

Continue developing staff capabilities through training and awareness programs to achieve the highest levels of performance.

Adopt university-wide initiatives that enhance academic reputation, such as activating memoranda of understanding with prestigious international universities, organizing joint scientific conferences and workshops, inviting visiting professors, conducting collaborative research, and promoting the Minister’s initiative “Study in Iraq.”

Conduct on-site performance audits for all departments and units to ensure effective accountability at every level.

Follow up on student activities and encourage participation in ministry-sponsored events, in coordination with the Student Activities Department.

Form a central committee and subcommittees across all university branches to begin preparations for the university’s central graduation ceremony.

During the meeting, the council also reviewed the items listed on the agenda and discussed several academic, administrative, and student-related matters, adopting the necessary recommendations accordingly.
