Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University Continues to Support Women’s Economic Empowerment Through a Seminar on Smart Financing and Entrepreneurship

As part of implementing the National Action Plan for the Iraqi National Strategy for Women, and within the framework of the second pillar, Economic Empowerment, specifically the provision focused on training women in financing economic projects and entering the labor market, the Women’s Affairs Unit at Al-Musayyib Technical Institute, Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University, organized an educational scientific seminar entitled “Tomorrow’s Women Entrepreneurs: Smart Financing Mechanisms and Strategies for Entering the Labor Market.” The seminar was delivered by Assist. Lecturer Noor Abbas Hussein and targeted female staff members and students of the Department of Mechanical Technologies.

The seminar aimed to promote the concepts of entrepreneurship and smart financing among participants, introduce the available funding sources for small and emerging enterprises, and develop participants’ skills in preparing preliminary business plans and simplified feasibility studies.

The seminar addressed several key topics, including the concept of entrepreneurship and smart financing, mechanisms for obtaining funding and managing financial resources efficiently, the steps involved in establishing small businesses, effective marketing strategies and labor market entry mechanisms, as well as inspiring success stories of women entrepreneurs who have achieved remarkable accomplishments in their business ventures.

The seminar witnessed active engagement from the participants and resulted in several important outcomes, most notably raising awareness of the importance of sound financial planning for business projects, enhancing knowledge of available funding opportunities, encouraging participants to adopt an entrepreneurial mindset, equipping them with fundamental project planning skills, and strengthening their motivation to actively participate in the labor market and contribute to sustainable economic development.

This seminar reflects Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University’s commitment to implementing programs that build women’s capacities in line with the Sustainable Development Goals and the Iraqi National Strategy for Women, thereby contributing to the preparation of a generation of women capable of innovation, competitiveness, and creating employment opportunities.
