As part of completing the requirements for holding the First International Scientific Conference, a delegation from Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University paid an official visit to Erbil Polytechnic University, with the aim of following up on the organizational and scientific arrangements and determining the venue and date of the conference.
The delegation included Professor Dr. Zaki Mohammed Abbas Bahiya, Dean of Al-Qadisiyah Polytechnic College; Professor Dr. Hassanein Ghani Al-Husseini, Dean of the Najaf Technical Engineering College; and Professor Dr. Qahtan Adnan Al-Fatlawi, Dean of Al-Rumaitha Technical Institute.
The delegation was received by Professor Dr. Azad Hassan Qadir, Assistant President of Erbil Polytechnic University for Administrative and Financial Affairs; Assistant Professor Dr. Yousif Mustafa Rasool, Assistant President for Student Affairs; and Professor Dr. Ayad Zaki Jaber, Dean of the Technical Engineering College, along with a number of department directors from the university presidency.
This visit comes within the framework of ongoing scientific and academic cooperation between the two universities and aims to finalize the procedures for organizing the First International Scientific Conference hosted by Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University, represented by Al-Qadisiyah Polytechnic College, Al-Rumaitha Technical Institute, and the Najaf Technical Engineering College, in partnership with Erbil Polytechnic University.
During the meeting, the venue and date of the conference were determined, and discussions were held regarding the organizational and scientific aspects related to receiving research papers, approving specialized scientific committees for peer review, and defining the main conference themes.
The conference is scheduled to be held at Erbil Polytechnic University on April 14–15, 2026, under the title:
“The 1st International Scientific Conference: Engineering and Science for Sustainable Development 2026”
(1st International Conference on Engineering–Science Nexus for Sustainable Development)
The conference themes will cover the fields of engineering and technology, management, and medical sciences, providing opportunities for researchers and postgraduate students to actively participate and present their scientific research. It was also agreed to adopt a number of peer-reviewed scientific journals for publishing accepted papers, provided that they are indexed in reputable international and national databases, thereby ensuring the quality of scientific outputs and enhancing the standing of research at technical universities.
Both sides emphasized that this step represents an advanced stage in the preparation for the conference and contributes to supporting sustainable development pathways, strengthening academic cooperation, and enhancing the scientific presence of Iraqi technical universities in local and international academic rankings.
At the conclusion of the visit, the delegation expressed its sincere thanks and appreciation to Erbil Polytechnic University for the warm reception and constructive cooperation, commending the efforts exerted in supporting the conference preparations and affirming the importance of continued coordination to ensure the success of the conference and the achievement of its scientific objectives.
