The Al-Najaf Engineering Technical College received an academic delegation from Khawaja Nasir al-Din al-Tusi University of Technology with the aim of strengthening scientific and academic cooperation and exchanging expertise between the two sides in the fields of engineering and technology.

The visiting delegation included Dr. Pouya Paydari, Professor and Scientific and Cultural Ambassador of the university in Iraq and Director of the Department of Needs Assessment and Studies, along with Mr. Samir Dawari. The meeting was attended by the Assistant President of the University for Scientific Affairs, Professor Dr. Ahmed Ghanem Wadai; Assistant Professor Dr. Hashim Ali Hasab, Director of the Department of Cultural Relations; and the Dean of the College, Professor Dr. Hasnain Ghani Al-Husseini, in addition to the associate deans, heads of academic departments, faculty members, and specialists.

The attendees also included the Head of the Department of Aircraft Engineering Technologies, the Head of the Department of Power Mechanics Engineering Technologies, the Head of the Department of Laser and Optoelectronics Engineering Technologies, and the Head of the Department of Avionics Engineering Technologies.

Moreover, several officials from the Iranian university participated virtually, including Dr. Hadi Ali Akbariyan, the university’s International Director; Dr. Mahdi Khodaei, Director of the Mechatronics Department; and Dr. Rahim Zadkan, Director of Open Education, in addition to several officials in the fields of scientific research, technology, and education.

The two sides discussed the possibility of establishing joint postgraduate programs in the specializations of aeronautical engineering, mechatronics, and electronic engineering, as well as opening prospects for scientific cooperation for graduates of the Avionics Engineering Technologies Department to pursue their postgraduate studies within specialized academic programs.

The meeting also addressed the importance of organizing specialized training courses and workshops in the fields of artificial intelligence, civil aircraft maintenance, industrial automation, smart homes, smart agriculture, and electronic device maintenance, in a manner that contributes to enhancing the skills of students and graduates and preparing them for the labor market.

The discussions further included the development of the college’s scientific laboratories by benefiting from the expertise and advanced laboratories of the Iranian university in the fields of communications, radar, microwave systems, and electronics, in addition to implementing specialized training programs and joint scientific courses.

At the conclusion of the meeting, both parties emphasized the importance of maintaining continuous coordination and forming specialized committees to follow up on twinning agreements and scientific cooperation initiatives, thereby enhancing the quality of engineering education and supporting the development of the Iraqi labor market.
