Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University Achieves Remarkable Global Progress in the THE Impact Rankings 2026
Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University has achieved another significant milestone in its journey toward global excellence by advancing in the Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings 2026, improving its global position from the 1001–1500 band in the previous year to the 801–1000 band in the 2026 edition.
At the national level, the University further strengthened its standing among Iraqi higher education institutions by securing fourth place among 15 participating public Iraqi universities. This achievement reflects the University’s continuous progress in the fields of sustainability, scientific research, and community engagement, in alignment with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The University also recorded a notable achievement by ranking second in Iraq for SDG 9: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure, highlighting its sustained efforts to foster innovation, advance its research and technological environment, and strengthen applied research projects and partnerships with industry and the wider community.
On this occasion, the President of Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University, Professor Dr. Hassan Latif Al-Zubaidi, commended the dedication of the University’s academic and administrative staff, as well as all employees who contributed to this accomplishment. He emphasized that the University will continue its efforts to enhance institutional development, promote sustainability, and achieve further academic excellence, thereby strengthening its position at both the national and international levels.
This advancement is the result of the University’s ongoing efforts to improve institutional performance indicators, enhance the quality of scientific research, develop infrastructure, and expand sustainability initiatives, in line with the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research’s vision of strengthening the global presence of Iraqi universities.
