Under the patronage and in the presence of the President of the University, Professor Dr. Hassan Latif Al-Zubaidi, Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University concluded its program entitled “Volunteering Activities” for graduating students. The program was implemented by the World University Service of Canada (WUSC) within the framework of the “Tawasul Project.”
The closing day, held under the slogan “Youth-Led Awareness Campaign,” was attended by the Scientific Assistant to the University President, Professor Dr. Ahmed Ghanem Waday, and featured the participation of the Project Programs Manager, Mr. Nabil Mustafa, and the Program Officer, Mr. Haidar Alaa.
In his address delivered during the closing ceremony and the honoring of volunteers at the University Presidency, the University President emphasized the importance of voluntary work in refining students’ leadership skills and enhancing their sense of social responsibility. He noted that volunteering plays a fundamental role in developing students’ leadership capabilities and strengthening their abilities to communicate and collaborate effectively with others.
He further added that voluntary work contributes to fostering students’ social responsibility, enhances their capacity to engage with the local community, and supports the achievement of sustainable development goals. He also affirmed that Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University places great importance on volunteerism and actively encourages students to participate in voluntary activities as part of its commitment to community engagement.
Additionally, students who underwent intensive training in the professional design and management of community initiatives were honored. These students successfully translated their acquired skills into practical applications through the distribution of educational posters, the organization of workshops, and the production of digital awareness content.
The closing ceremony was attended by a number of department directors from the University Presidency, along with the volunteer students, who expressed their gratitude and appreciation to the University for its continued support of voluntary work.
