Under the patronage of His Excellency the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Naim Al-Aboudi, and under the supervision of Professor Dr. Hassan Latif Al-Zubaidi, the activities of the Iraqi Universities Volleyball Championship for the Al-Furat Al-Awsat Region (Male and Female Students) were officially inaugurated.
It is noteworthy that the championship is held within the annual program of the Supervision and Scientific Evaluation Authority – Student Activities Department for the academic year 2025–2026 (first semester). The event is hosted by Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University in cooperation with the Islamic University, with the participation of a number of public and private universities and colleges, and has witnessed wide participation from governmental and private higher education institutions.
The opening ceremony was attended by Professor Dr. Ahmed Ghanim Wadai, Assistant President of the University for Scientific Affairs, members of the ministerial delegation, a number of department directors and university staff, heads of participating delegations, and students from the participating universities.
The championship will continue for several days and includes a series of important matches competing for the championship trophy. The matches are being held at the sports halls of Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University and the Islamic Universit
