Under the patronage of His Excellency, the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Naeem Al-Aboudi, and under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Hassan Latif Al-Zubaidi, President of Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University, the university inaugurated the international training and arbitration courses in table tennis for university team coaches. The event is organized under the supervision of the Supervision and Scientific Evaluation Authority – Student Activities Department, with broad participation from public and private universities.
The opening ceremony commenced with a recitation of Al-Fatiha in honor of Iraq’s martyrs, followed by the playing of the Iraqi national anthem. The event was attended by the University President, a ministerial delegation from the Supervision and Scientific Evaluation Authority – Student Activities Department, the Iranian Consul in Najaf and his accompanying delegation, along with Prof. Dr. Ahmed Ghanem Wadi, Vice President of the University for Scientific Affairs, and Prof. Dr. Mohammed Abdul Mohsen Al-Majtoumi, Vice President of the University for Administrative Affairs. Several deans, department directors, faculty members, heads of delegations from participating universities, and distinguished academic and sports figures were also present.
In his speech, Prof. Dr. Hassan Latif Al-Zubaidi welcomed the participating universities in these international table tennis courses, commending their valuable presence at this specialized sporting event. He emphasized that this initiative highlights the university’s firm commitment to supporting sports activities at both local and international levels, considering them an integral part of its academic and educational mission. He reaffirmed his unwavering support for specialized activities that contribute to the advancement of university sports. Moreover, he stated that the university aspires to be a model of professionalism and organization, reflecting the bright image of higher education and research institutions, particularly Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University.
At the conclusion of his speech, he wished all participating delegations a pleasant stay and hoped they would benefit from these two international courses. He also extended his gratitude and appreciation to the ministerial delegation, international lecturers, participating delegations, and all organizing committees from the Student Activities Department for their outstanding efforts in hosting this international sports festival at the esteemed university.
