Under the patronage of the President of Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University, Professor Dr. Hassan Latif Al-Zubaidi, and under the supervision of the Assistant President for Administrative Affairs, Professor Dr. Mohammed Abdul-Mohsen Al-Majtumi, the Women’s Affairs Division, in cooperation with the University Psychological Counseling Division, organized a bazaar to support women’s economic empowerment within the university campus in Kufa.

The organization of this bazaar comes as part of the implementation of the Iraqi National Strategy for Women, particularly the محور of economic empowerment, and in alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals. It also reflects the university’s commitment to providing a supportive environment that enhances women’s participation in economic activities and promotes their psychological and social stability.

The bazaar witnessed the participation of more than 30 female participants and included 28 booths showcasing small women-led projects, featuring handicrafts, artistic products, and homemade goods. The event received remarkable interaction from university students and staff, contributing to highlighting the creative capacities of the participants and promoting a culture of self-employment and self-reliance.

The University Presidency affirmed its full support for initiatives that contribute to women’s economic and psychological empowerment, emphasizing the importance of institutional partnership between the Women’s Affairs Division and the University Psychological Counseling Division in achieving comprehensive empowerment for women within the academic environment.

For his part, Professor Dr. Al-Majtumi stated that cooperation in organizing this bazaar aims to enhance self-confidence among participants and to support mental health through integrating economic empowerment with positive psychological counseling.

This activity is part of a series of initiatives implemented by Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University in support of the active role of women in institutional and community development, and represents a practical embodiment of the university’s commitment to implementing the Iraqi National Strategy for Women.
