As part of the university presidency’s efforts to promote national values and security culture among students and consolidate belonging to our beloved country in order to educate future generations about the dangers of negative phenomena in society. Under the patronage of the President of Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University, Prof. Dr. Hassan Latif Al-Zubaidi, and the supervision of the Dean of the Karbala Technical Institute, Prof. Dr. Fadhel Muhammad Zahir, the Karbala Center for Studies and Research at Imam Hussain Holy Shrine, in cooperation with the Directorate of Combating Crimes in the province, organized a dialogue seminar entitled (Negative Phenomena Alien to Society) in the premises of the Karbala Technical Institute and in the Imam Al-Rida (pbuh) Hall, in the presence of the Chairman of the Karbala Provincial Council, Dr. Qasim Al-Yassari, and the Legal Brigadier Alaa Hussein Muhammad / Director of the Karbala Crime Combating Department, and Dr. Haider Al-Karbala’i / Assistant Director of the Karbala Center for Studies and Research, and the advanced staff of the institute, its members and students. The ceremony began with the recitation of verses from the Holy Quran and Surat Al-Fatihah for the souls of the martyrs, followed by the playing of the national anthem. After that, the university president delivered his speech on this occasion, welcoming the honorable guests, recalling the birth of the Commander of the Faithful, Imam Ali, peace be upon him, his fragrant biography and the importance of his role in Islam, calling for inspiration from his biography of values, thought, ethical behaviors and lofty principles. He emphasizes the need to confront phenomena alien to social values and try to find solutions to limit the spread of these negative phenomena. He pointed out that holding such educational seminars highlights the importance of enhancing community awareness of the danger of these phenomena and effective ways to confront them. He emphasized the importance of joint cooperation between security agencies, state institutions and civil society organizations to create integration in limiting phenomena alien to society. The symposium included an educational lecture on the scourge of drugs as one of the most prominent dangers affecting the youth segment, presented by Professor Dr. Haider Al-Karbalai, Assistant Director of the Karbala Center for Studies and Research. The symposium also witnessed awareness video presentations prepared by the Crime Control Department in Karbala Governorate, which showed the repercussions of these scourges on individuals and society. For his part, the Chairman of the Karbala Provincial Council, Dr. Qasim Al-Yassari, praised in his speech the efforts made to combat the phenomenon of drugs, emphasizing the existence of specialized hospitals in the governorate to treat addicts, while pointing to future plans to establish new treatment centers to support efforts to eliminate this problem. The symposium was characterized by an interactive atmosphere and interest from the attendees, especially the students, as the attendees participated by asking questions and making interventions that contributed to enriching the dialogue. In conclusion, the participants were honored with shields of excellence by the Karbala Technical Institute, as well as certificates of thanks and appreciation in appreciation of their role in the success of the symposium, which emphasized the importance of unifying efforts between scientific, security and community institutions to confront negative phenomena and protect the social fabric. In addition, the lecturers at the symposium called for emphasis on reporting negative phenomena that are foreign to society and building bridges of trust between students and the specialized security agencies.
