The Department of Forensic Evidence Technologies at the College of Polytechnic/Al-Qadisiyah, one of the constituent institutions of Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University, organized a scientific workshop entitled “Digital Evidence and Cyber Investigations.”

The workshop was delivered by Assistant Lecturers Maryam Alaa Abdul Hussein and Noor Qasim Hussein, in the presence of a number of staff members and students. It addressed several scientific themes focusing on the importance of digital evidence and its role in modern criminal investigations. The main themes of the workshop were as follows:

First Theme: The concept and characteristics of digital evidence, and its significance in criminal proof in light of technological advancement.
Second Theme: The stages of Digital Forensics and Incident Response (DFIR), starting from the collection of digital evidence, through its analysis, to its documentation and presentation.
Third Theme: Tools and techniques of cyber investigations, including an overview of the most prominent software used in detecting cybercrimes.
Fourth Theme: Challenges and obstacles faced by specialists in the digital field, including transnational crimes and the continuous evolution of hacking methods.
Fifth Theme: Legal and ethical considerations related to handling digital evidence and ensuring its integrity and credibility before judicial authorities.

At the conclusion of the workshop, the lecturers emphasized the importance of developing the skills of students and staff in the field of cyber investigations in order to keep pace with the rapid advancement of digital crimes and to enhance the efficiency of criminal investigation practices.
