As part of its ongoing activities aimed at promoting women’s health awareness, the Women’s Affairs Division at Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University, in collaboration with the Department of Community Health Techniques at Al-Kufa Technical Institute, organized a specialized seminar entitled “Health and Cancer Diseases: Awareness and Prevention.” This event was held within the framework of implementing the Third National Plan for Women, Peace, and Security – Protection and Prevention Pillar. The seminar witnessed the participation of a distinguished group of specialists. Dr. Mohammed Hameed Jabbar Al-Kar’awi, an internal medicine and general surgery specialist from Al-Mishkhab Hospital, delivered a scientific lecture addressing the most prevalent cancer diseases, modern diagnosis and treatment methods, and emphasized the importance of community awareness and early detection. Additionally, Dr. Sarah Hassan Kadhem and Dr. Zahraa Kareem Taiban from the Department of Community Health Techniques gave interactive lectures that focused on preventive methods against cancer and the significance of regular tests and screenings, particularly across various age groups.
The seminar was moderated by Mrs. Ikhlas Razaq Naham, Head of the Women’s Affairs Division, who explained that this event is part of a series of awareness-raising activities aimed at spreading health culture among women, students, and the university community at large, thereby enhancing disease prevention and control.
At the conclusion of the seminar, the participating lecturers were honored with certificates of appreciation presented by the President of Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University, Prof. Dr. Hassan Lateef Al-Zubaidi, in recognition of their scientific and community efforts. The certificates were handed out by the University Vice President for Administrative Affairs, Prof. Dr. Mohammed Abdul-Muhsin Al-Majtoumi, who also praised the efforts and outstanding performance, affirming the university’s continued commitment to community service.
