Under the patronage of the President of the University, Prof. Dr. Hassan Latif Al-Zubaidi, and as part of the strategic plan of the Department of Scientific Affairs at the Presidency of Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University to develop the research capabilities of faculty members, a workshop entitled “The Use of Artificial Intelligence in Scientific Research” was held in collaboration with the Continuing Education Center.
At the opening of the workshop, Prof. Ali Abdul-Hussein Al-Dhalmi, Director of the Scientific Affairs Department, welcomed the participating faculty members from various university departments. He delivered a lecture that covered the concept of artificial intelligence, its developmental stages, and its key applications, while also highlighting its significant advantages and warning of potential risks if ethical guidelines for its use are not clearly defined.
Assistant Lecturer Munaf Hamza Kareem from the Scientific Division at the university presidency presented a lecture titled “Using Openread Software in Scientific Research.” The lecture provided a detailed explanation of the registration process and demonstrated how the software can be used to access relevant research materials, accurately summarize them, and explore its features and tools, emphasizing its importance in enhancing research efficiency.
Assistant Professor Dr. Miad Kazem Al-Khodeiri, Head of the Scientific Division, stated that the workshop also included practical sessions. Participants, utilizing internet access, were guided to apply the features and tools of the software in their respective fields of expertise. These sessions were supervised by Assist. Prof. Dr. Amir Hussein Mohammed from the Scientific Affairs Department, who offered personalized support, addressed any technical challenges, and answered all participants’ questions.
At the conclusion of the workshop, participants extended their gratitude to the university’s leadership and underscored the significance of such workshops and training sessions. They emphasized that these initiatives play a vital role in improving the quality and scope of scientific research conducted by faculty members and contribute to enhancing the university’s reputation and standing among Arab and international academic institutions.
