Under the patronage of Hassan Latif Al-Zubaidi, President of Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University, and with direct supervision from Ahmed Ghanem Wadai, Assistant President for Scientific Affairs, and in the presence of assistant deans for scientific affairs as well as editors-in-chief and members of editorial boards of scientific journals, the Department of Quality Assurance and University Performance at the University Presidency organized a specialized workshop to follow up on the procedures for indexing Al-Furat journals in reputable international databases.
The workshop, delivered by Hussein Awad Al-Abadi, Director of the Department of Quality Assurance and University Performance, aimed to highlight the scientific and technical requirements necessary for accrediting journals within global databases. This was achieved through reviewing the status of each journal individually, developing a clear roadmap to enhance their performance, discussing key challenges and obstacles they face, and proposing practical solutions to address them. The workshop also included the formation of specialized committees to oversee the implementation of development plans.
In turn, the University President, Hassan Latif Al-Zubaidi, emphasized the importance of advancing the university’s scientific journals in line with international standards, affirming the University Presidency’s full support for all efforts aimed at integrating these journals into global indexing databases, given their direct impact on enhancing the university’s reputation and academic ranking.
The workshop also featured a detailed presentation on publishing standards adopted by Scopus, as well as key performance indicators for scientific journals. It further addressed mechanisms for improving the quality of scientific content and enhancing the efficiency of peer-review processes, in addition to outlining the procedural steps required for submitting journals to international platforms.
It is noteworthy that the university currently publishes six scientific journals across engineering, medical, agricultural, and administrative disciplines, alongside the recent establishment of several new journals, including Al-Furat Journal of Administrative Technical Sciences, Polytechnic Journal for Sustainable Studies, Al-Furat Journal for Nanotechnology Innovations, and the International Journal of Fuel Engineering Technologies and Sustainable Energy.
