Under the patronage of Professor Dr. Hassan Latif Al-Zubaidi, President of Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University, and under the direct supervision of Professor Dr. Ahmed Ghanem Wadi, Al-Furat Scientific Journals organized a specialized workshop dedicated to monitoring and evaluating the performance of scientific journals. The workshop was held as part of the University’s efforts to enhance the quality of scientific publishing and strengthen the international visibility of its journals in global indexing databases and repositories. It also aimed to examine their current status and discuss the requirements for their development in accordance with academic quality and scholarly integrity standards.
The workshop was delivered by Assistant Professor Dr. Hussein Awwad Kurdi Al-Abidi, Director of the Department of Quality Assurance and University Performance. It included a review of scientific journal performance indicators, monitoring publication and citation rates, and identifying the major challenges facing editorial boards. Furthermore, discussions addressed mechanisms for developing journal websites, ensuring compliance with international scientific publishing standards, and enhancing opportunities for journal inclusion in reputable international indexing databases.
The workshop also examined the plans and procedures required to improve the quality of published research, expedite the peer-review process, and enhance the efficiency of editorial boards, thereby contributing to the fulfilment of international accreditation and indexing requirements.
The workshop emphasized the importance of adopting regular monitoring and evaluation as two fundamental pillars for ensuring the sustainability of development and the continuous improvement of scientific journals, while strengthening the University’s reputation and academic standing in scientific research and scholarly publishing.
Additionally, certificates of appreciation were presented by the College of Education at the University of Kufa, represented by the attendance of Assistant Professor Dr. Zain Al-Abidin Abdul Samad and Assistant Professor Dr. Ahmed Al-Adali, in recognition of the University’s participation and contribution to the First Scientific Conference on Recent Trends in Artificial Intelligence and Computer Science, which was held at the University of Kufa.
The workshop concluded with a set of recommendations and practical measures intended to support the institutional development of Al-Furat Scientific Journals and advance the University’s objectives in enhancing the quality of scientific research.
