In line with the policy of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and in activation of the clauses of memoranda of understanding aimed at enhancing scientific and cultural cooperation with reputable international universities, and in implementation of the directives of the President of Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University, Professor Dr. Hassan Latif Al-Zubaidi,
and in coordination with the University’s Department of Scholarships and Cultural Relations, the College of Health and Medical Technologies – Kufa, under the supervision of its Dean, Professor Dr. Angham Jasim Al-Ramahi, organized the Third International Conference on Medical and Biological Technologies (ICMBT 2025), in partnership with the College of Health and Medical Technologies at Al-Mustaqbal University and Istanbul Aydın University – Turkey.
The opening session witnessed high-level academic attendance, including the representative of His Excellency the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Head of the Supervision and Scientific Evaluation Authority, Professor Dr. Salah Hadi Saleh Al-Fatlawi, as well as the Iraqi Cultural Attaché in Turkey, Professor Dr. Maysar Mohammed Younis Al-Abadi.
The conference was also attended by the Assistant President of the University for Administrative Affairs, Professor Dr. Mohammed Abdul-Mohsen Al-Majtoomi, in addition to the participation of the Dean of the College of Health and Medical Technologies – Babylon, the Dean of Al-Musaib Technical College, the Dean of Al-Musaib Technical Institute, and the Dean of the College of Engineering at Al-Mustaqbal University representing the University President and the Dean of its College of Health and Medical Technologies, along with several department directors, researchers, specialists from participating universities, and students of Istanbul Aydın University.
In his speech, the representative of the Minister affirmed the Ministry’s interest in and support for such conferences, noting that the number of research papers submitted to the conference reached 172 papers. He pointed out that the conference aims to exchange expertise and review the latest developments in medical, health, and biological sciences technologies in light of the revolution in artificial intelligence technology, digital applications, and research into exemplary diagnostic and therapeutic methods for disease treatment, thereby enhancing the quality of health and medical services, particularly in medical laboratories, with the goal of developing the health and economic sectors in the country.
For his part, Professor Dr. Hassan Latif Al-Zubaidi, in his opening speech, emphasized the importance of scientific research in developing the health and medical sectors. He noted that the university has achieved remarkable progress in scientific research, with more than 3,000 research papers published in Scopus and Clarivate databases, contributing to the university’s inclusion in several prestigious international rankings at the local, regional, and global levels. He stressed that this achievement would not have been possible without the university’s academic staff who have made scientific research both a slogan and a distinctive practice in their work.
He also affirmed his support for applied research that addresses real problems across various sectors of society, expressing his hope for the continuation of such high-quality conferences to strengthen partnerships between universities and serve the educational process.
He further noted that the number of submitted research papers included 95 Arabic and foreign papers, while 52 papers were accepted, including papers from outside Iraq submitted by international, Arab, and Iraqi universities. Speakers from Turkey and Iraq were also approved for this scientific conference.
On the other hand, the President of Istanbul Aydın University, Professor Dr. Ibrahim Aydın, welcomed all academics, researchers, and students, and emphasized the importance of strengthening frameworks for joint research and cultural cooperation between the two universities. In concluding his speech, he expressed his gratitude to the scientific committee and participating researchers, hoping their research would find wide practical application. He also extended thanks to the preparatory and media committees and all supporting committees that contributed to the successful organization of this distinguished conference.
At the conclusion of the first day’s activities, the President of Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University expressed his appreciation to the Dean of the College, as well as all professors, researchers, and postgraduate students who enriched the conference with their research contributions.
In the same context, Professor Dr. Al-Zubaidi presented the University Shield to the representative of His Excellency the Minister, the participating universities, and the preparatory committee of the conference.
