Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University has received a certificate of participation, appreciation, and gratitude from the Ministry of Education and Higher Education and Scientific Research of Qatar for its participation in the 14th edition of the Arab Robotics Championship in 2023. It was handed over to the President of the University, Prof. Dr. Mudhaffar Sadiq Al-Zuhairy, by the Dean of Najaf Engineering Technical College, Dr. Hassanein Ghani Al-Husseini.
The university was represented in the championship by two instructors from the College of Engineering Technology in Najaf. Assistant Prof.Dr. Aliaa Abdul Hussein Laftah served as a member of the judging and training committee, while Instructor Fatimah Mohammed Kadhom served as the coach of the advanced Sumo Challenger team, which was trained at the programming club in the college.
Al-Zuhairy praised this type of initiative during his reception of the dean, as it contributes to enhancing the university’s reputation on the international stage and building capacities for specific segments of society.
It is worth mentioning that the Sumo team won two awards. The first award was for “Best Programmer” where they achieved first place, while the second award was for “Young Innovator” where the team achieved second place.
It should be noted that the championship took place in Qatar with the participation of 800 contestants from fifteen Arab countries.
