Under the patronage and in the presence of Professor Dr. Hassan Latif Al-Zubaidi, President of Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University, the University Presidency witnessed this morning a remarkable and moving ceremony to raise the Iraqi flag, marking the beginning of the new academic year 2026–2027.
The ceremony was organized by the Student Activities Department under the supervision of Assistant Professor Dr. Mahmoud Al-Tamimi, with the distinguished participation of the university’s scouting team, which stood in formation in its official uniform to salute the flag as the national anthem was performed. The scene embodied the highest values of loyalty and belonging to the homeland.
The ceremony was attended by a large number of university officials, led by the Assistant Presidents of the University, along with several department and division directors and university staff, who gathered under one flag—the enduring flag of Iraq.
The University Presidency affirmed that the ceremony is not merely an annual tradition, but rather an educational and patriotic message aimed at instilling the highest national values among students and staff, while promoting a culture of respect for national symbols and noble humanitarian principles.
It also noted that this activity is in line with the university’s vision of building an integrated national university environment that supports extracurricular activities and contributes to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly those related to building peaceful societies and promoting the values of citizenship.
With this patriotic beginning, Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University welcomes a new academic year under the banner of Knowledge, Work, and Creativity Under the Shelter of the Homeland.
