Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University Ranks Fifth Among 92 Iraqi Universities and Colleges in the 2026 UI GreenMetric Ranking

This achievement was not the result of a momentary effort; rather, it is the outcome of a strategic vision grounded in the belief that a sustainable university is the university of the future.

Under the direct guidance and close follow-up of the President of Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University, Prof. Dr. Hassan Latif Al-Zubaidi, who placed sustainability and the transition toward a green university at the forefront of the university’s strategic priorities, firm directives were issued to all university formations to implement clean-environment standards, promote energy efficiency, and manage resources effectively. This achievement therefore represents a tangible realization of that vision.

Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University ranked fifth among 92 Iraqi universities and colleges in the 2026 UI GreenMetric World University Ranking, compared with 87 Iraqi higher education institutions in last year’s edition, according to data published on the ranking’s official website.
