A Green Campaign Across the Premises of the Presidency of Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University, with the Participation of University President Prof. Dr. Hassan Latif Al-Zubaidi and University Leadership
The Women’s Affairs Division Translates the University’s Environmental Responsibility into a Field Initiative
In a scene reflecting a spirit of institutional responsibility and a strong commitment to environmental protection, the Women’s Affairs Division at the Presidency of Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University organized a tree-planting campaign across the premises and surrounding areas of the University Presidency, with the participation of University President Prof. Dr. Hassan Latif Al-Zubaidi, Assistant President for Scientific Affairs Dr. Ahmed Ghanem Wadi, and a number of deans of the University’s colleges and institutes, as well as department directors.
The campaign aimed to expand green spaces and promote a culture of environmental conservation within the university community.
The campaign included planting a number of trees and plants throughout the premises of the University Presidency, with active participation from university leadership. The initiative brought together institutional action and environmental practice, providing a practical example of the importance of collective efforts in supporting initiatives that contribute to improving the university environment and making it more attractive and sustainable.
The Women’s Affairs Division confirmed that the campaign forms part of the activities implemented within the framework of the objectives of the National Strategy for Iraqi Women, particularly those related to enhancing women’s role in environmental protection and contributing to sustainable development.
The selection of the University Presidency premises as the site for the campaign reflects the importance of translating environmental principles and policies into tangible practices within the university environment. It also contributes to raising awareness of the importance of tree planting, given its positive impact on improving the urban landscape, supporting the environment, and strengthening the sense of belonging and responsibility toward the surrounding space.
The campaign witnessed positive engagement from the participants. The participation of the University President, deans, and department directors reinforced the initiative’s central message: that a university is not merely an institution for education and scientific research, but also an active partner in building a society that is conscious of environmental responsibility and committed to sustainable development.
This initiative is part of a series of activities carried out by the Women’s Affairs Division at the University Presidency, aimed at activating the objectives of the National Strategy for Iraqi Women through programs and initiatives with practical and societal impact, while strengthening women’s presence and role in development and environmental issues.
