With patronage of Prof. Dr. Hassan Latif Al-Zubaidi, President of Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University, the Student Activities Department concluded the university swimming championship for students from the university’s formations. The event was attended by the Dean of the Babylon Technical Institute, Assistant Prof. Dr. Arous Khudair, along with a number of university staff and students.
The championship, which was supervised and overseen by Prof. Dr. Muhammad Abdul-Muhsin Al-Mujtami, Vice president for Administrative and Financial Affairs, is the first of its kind for university students and is part of the department’s curriculum for the first semester of the academic year 2024-2025. The events were hosted by the Al-Musayyib Technical College, the Babylon Technical Institute, and took place at the Ishtar Pool in Babylon Province.
Assistant Prof. Dr. Nasir Ahmed, Director of the Student Activities Department, noted that this championship is the university’s first in swimming, emphasizing its positive impact on students’ health and recreational well-being. He highlighted the importance of diversifying and focusing on all sports activities, ensuring they are held for university students. The championship included several events: freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, and relay races, managed by a team from the central union of the sport to identify and nurture outstanding talents in preparation for the university team’s participation in the Iraq Universities Swimming Championship, to be held by the ministry soon.
