As part of the approach to openness and communication with international universities, including those in the regional sphere, Prof, Dr. Mudhaffar Sadiq Al-Zuhairy, President of Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University, signed a scientific and cultural memorandum of understanding with Istanbul Aydin University in the Republic of Turkey.

At the beginning of the signing ceremony, Al-Zuhairy expressed his gratitude and appreciation to the presidency of Istanbul Aydin University for hosting the delegation from Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University. He then provided a comprehensive explanation of the university’s vision, mission, objectives, and scientific disciplines it deals with. He emphasized that the university focuses on equipping its graduates with the skills required by the job market, in addition to soft skills that are not covered by academic vocabulary, through the Rehabilitation and Employment Center and the Continuing Education Center. Al-Zuhairy also highlighted the university’s research activities, scientific conferences organized by the university, and the international classifications it has achieved in recent years.

Al-Zuhairy stated that the signing of the memorandum is in line with the Ministry’s policy, represented by His Excellency the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, to build scientific and cultural relationships with reputable universities, in order to achieve the desired benefits of mutual cooperation and introduce the capabilities of Iraqi universities, enhancing their reputation in international forums. Afterwards, a documentary film about the university was presented.

In her speech, Dr. Yadigar Azmeli, President of Istanbul Aydin University, welcomed the visiting delegation and expressed the university’s readiness to bridge cooperation in various fields of mutual interest, in order to serve the interests of both parties.

The memorandum discussed the possibility of exchanging scientific experiences through the exchange of professors to conduct research, scientific meetings, lectures, and the discussion of theses, as well as supporting scientific projects and training programs.

The memorandum also emphasized enhancing cooperation in the field of authorship and publishing joint scientific research in reputable journals within international scientific databases. Additionally, it included attending conferences, seminars, workshops, scientific and cultural competitions, and participating in the activities and events organized by both universities.

From the Iraqi side, the signing ceremony was attended by Dr. Ali Najah, Director of the Quality Assurance and Academic Performance Department, and Mr. Muaeen Al-Rubaye, Director of the University President’s Office.

From the Turkish side, the ceremony was attended by the Assistant Scientific and Director of Missions and Cultural Relations, as well as several officials from the university administration.

At the end of the signing ceremony, commemorative gifts were exchanged between the two parties.
