As part of the university’s approach to openness and communication with international universities, Prof. Dr. Mudhaffar Sadiq Al-Zuhairy, the President of Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University, signed a scientific and cultural memorandum of understanding with Politehnica University of Bucharest in Romania.
At the commencement of the signing ceremony, Al-Zuhairy expressed his gratitude to the leadership of Politehnica University of Bucharest for hosting the delegation from Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University. The delegation included the President of Northern Technical University, Dr. Aliaa Al-Attar, along with representatives from seven technical universities in the central and regional areas, as well as a representative from the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and a UNESCO office representative in Iraq.
Al-Zuhairy emphasized that the signing of the memorandum aligns with the Ministry’s policy, represented by the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, to build scientific and cultural relationships with reputable universities. This aims to achieve the desired benefits of mutual cooperation, promote the capabilities of Iraqi universities, and enhance their reputation on the international stage, ultimately contributing to the internationalization of higher education.
The memorandum addresses the possibility of exchanging scientific expertise through the exchange of faculty for research, scientific meetings, lectures, thesis examinations, support for scientific projects and training programs, as well as student exchanges.
Moreover, the memorandum underscores the enhancement of cooperation in authoring and publishing joint scientific research in reputable journals within the global scientific databases. It also includes participation in conferences, seminars, workshops, scientific and cultural competitions, and engagement in activities and scientific events organized by both universities.
The signing ceremony was attended by the Iraqi visiting delegation and senior officials from Politehnica University of Bucharest. The event concluded with an exchange of commemorative gifts between the two parties.
