Under the patronage of His Excellency the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Naeem Al-Aboudi, and under the supervision of Professor Dr. Hassan Lateef Al-Zubaidi, the activities of the Ministerial Short Story Competition for Iraqi university students have concluded.

It is noteworthy that the festival comes as part of the agenda of the Supervision and Scientific Evaluation Authority – Student Activities Department for the academic year 2025–2026 / first semester, hosted by Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University, with wide participation from public and private universities. The event witnessed attendance from more than 50 universities and colleges from various Iraqi provinces, making it one of the most prominent university literary activities of the year.

The closing ceremony was attended by Professor Dr. Hassan Lateef Al-Zubaidi, the University President, and Professor Dr. Ahmed Ghanem Wadai, the Scientific Assistant, along with several deans of colleges and institutes, department directors, delegation heads, and participating students, which added a distinguished academic presence befitting the occasion.

The ceremony included the screening of a film documenting the festival’s activities, followed by a speech delivered by the Chair of the Cultural Committee, Professor Dr. Ahmed Al-Fartousi, who highlighted the excellence of the competition and the richness of its program. He stressed that the conclusion of these days filled with beauty, knowledge, and light requires extending the highest expressions of gratitude and appreciation to Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University, represented by its President, Professor Dr. Hassan Al-Zubaidi, and to the University’s Student Activities Department for their warm reception, generous hospitality, and provision of all requirements necessary for the success of the festival, reflecting the nobility of its academic mission.

The competition’s activities continued for four consecutive days, during which participating students presented their stories in both individual and group contests. The judging and cultural committees evaluated these works according to rigorous artistic and literary standards.

At the end of the ceremony, honorary shields were presented to the ministerial delegation and the judging and cultural committees, in addition to honoring the winning universities and outstanding students in recognition of their efforts and contributions to the success of this distinguished literary event.
