Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University (ATU) held its 1st annual ceremony in honor of the Commander of the Faithful Emam Ali (peace be upon him). The ceremony was attended by the Governor of Al-Najaf city, Dr. Eng. Majid Al-Waeli, and a group of Iraqi university Chancellors, including The University of Technology, Jaber Ibn Hayyan Medical University, Al-Karkh University, TheeQar University, Al-Qadisiyah Karbala University, and the Islamic University. The chief of Najaf Police, the Director of National Security, the President of the Chamber of Commerce, the President of the Chamber of Industry, a representative of the human rights, and a large audience of academic, community, and official figures, in addition to the assistants to the university president, deans of colleges and institutes, affiliates and students.
The Chancellor of ATU University, Prof. Mudhaffar Sadiq Al-Zuhairy, gave a speech in which he referred to the virtues of the Lord, the Commander of the Faithful, peace be upon him, and the explicit references to his bounty in the Holy Qur’an and the purified Sunnah. The newly constructed tower name (Al-Meelad Tower) is in honor of the birth anniversary of the Commander of the Faithful Emam Ali. Peace be upon him, an important architectural monument and landmark that bears witness to giving Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University and its creativity in a time of challenge.
