The Central Scientific Promotions Section is administratively linked to the University President, and the committee is one of the important committees in the university that grants scientific titles to faculty members who have MSc. and Ph.D by promoting their transactions and evaluating their research papers by experts inside and outside Iraq. The Central Scientific Promotions Section consists of the section director and administrative staff. It works with the Central Scientific Promotions Committee, which consists of nine members, including the committee chairman and committee members who hold the academic title (professor) and have different academic specializations and who are responsible for reviewing the promotion applicants to the scientific titles (lecturer), (assistant professor), and (professor) in the university presidency and its affiliated colleges and institutes. The Section audits the promotion applicants and holds periodic meetings to discuss the applications received and take appropriate decisions regarding them, either approving the promotion or returning the application if it contains deficiencies or does not meet the conditions or promoting the promotion applications and sending them to reviewers. The Scientific Promotions Instructions No. (167) of 2017 have been being implemented by the Central Scientific Promotions Committee as well as the sub-promotions’ committees in the colleges and institutes in completing the auditing of scientific and administrative applicants and procedures in the best possible way to save time and effort. Moreover, modern communication is used between the Central Committee and the scientific reviewers (via Emails to reviewers who are abroad), which leads to reducing the time of all procedures, as well as making statistics for all faculty members who have obtained scientific titles and following up on the work of the sub-committees for promotions in the university’s colleges and institutes.
