the third edition of the “Study in Iraq” program for the 2025/2026 academic year, aimed at admitting international students to Iraqi universities.
In his speech, delivered in the presence of representatives from international organizations, Arab and foreign diplomatic missions, parliamentary figures, the President of the Iraqi Academics Syndicate, and the senior staff, Dr. Al-Aboudi emphasized that the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, through all its university institutions and affiliated bodies, has consistently adopted and implemented strategic projects that integrate the university education environment into the path of internationalization and global academic engagement.
He confirmed that the third edition of the “Study in Iraq” program includes an ambitious plan offering more than 16,000 scholarships, aiming to accommodate the largest possible number of international students, covering a wider range of academic disciplines, and providing broader opportunities for scientific and cultural exchange.
Dr. Al-Aboudi also directed the establishment of the “Study in Iraq” Association for International Students, the designation of April 30th as International Student Day, and a focus on practical training as well as the development of Arabic language programs for non-native speakers.
Meanwhile, the Head of Education and Acting Director of the UNESCO Office in Iraq, Dr. Tap Raj, congratulated the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research on launching the third edition of the “Study in Iraq” program, noting that Iraq continues to strengthen its rich heritage by opening its doors to international students from around the world. He emphasized that these students will contribute to writing a new chapter in the story of a country full of resilience and renewal.
The ceremony for the launch of the third edition of the program included speeches and presentations by the Director of the Department of Scholarships and Cultural Relations, the Presidents of the University of Baghdad and the University of Anbar, as well as international students. The event concluded with the honoring of outstanding universities and a commemorative photo of the international students.
