Under the patronage of the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and under the supervision of the President of Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University, Professor Dr. Hassan Latif Al-Zubaidi, and as part of the continued efforts of the Programming Club Unit and the Continuing Education Unit, in cooperation with Ibda’a Smart Skills Club, the in-person and online courses of the second cohort of the (1001 Digital Child) Initiative were launched on the third day of Entrepreneurship Week. The initiative is part of a free national training program targeting children aged 6 to 15 across Iraq.

These courses were generously hosted by the Programming Club Unit in collaboration with the Continuing Education Unit at the Engineering Technical College – Najaf, one of the formations of Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University, within an academic environment supportive of applied learning and digital capacity building.

The launch of the courses coincided with the University’s Global Entrepreneurship Week, underscoring the initiative’s entrepreneurial dimension through instilling concepts of innovation, teamwork, and transforming technical knowledge into applicable ideas from an early age.

The training program also featured a programming hackathon for children, organized in cooperation with the Technology Incubators and Ecosystem Unit. This event provided participants with the opportunity to apply their acquired knowledge practically within small teams, developing simplified programming ideas and projects, thereby enhancing their creative thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills in an environment that simulates real-world entrepreneurship.

The courses included an introduction to the fundamentals of programming and algorithms, logical thinking approaches, and teamwork, delivered through an interactive training methodology tailored to the targeted age groups.
